Hilary's speech in the debate on the Brexit Bill

On Monday 13 March we had the final debate in the House of Commons on the Article 50 Bill that will start the process of the UK withdrawing from the EU.

We discussed, and I spoke about, two issues – the position of EU nationals here and Parliament’s role in deciding the terms on which leave the EU. Neither amendment would have stopped us leaving – that was not their purpose - but the Government opposed them, and now the Prime Minister is free to trigger Article 50 at any time. Next stop - the negotiations……
