Hilary signs Yorkshire Wildlife Trust's Petition Fish

Hilary recently met with Rob Stoneman and Louise Wilkinson of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to discuss their Petition Fish campaign.

The campaign aims to put pressure on the UK, Scottish and Welsh Governments to create Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) to protect our sea life. During his time as Secretary of State for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Hilary was instrumental in getting the Marine and Coastal Access Act onto the Statute Book and 2012 should see the UK’s first network of MPAs established under the act.

The Wildlife Trusts are calling on the Government to ensure that Marine Protected Areas adequately protect wildlife and cover some of our most important marine wildlife sites.
